Three years ago on September 20th, I had a total thyroidectomy.  This is what my scar looks like today.

2 year cancer follow-up

I went to the ENT that removed my thyroid two years ago.  He recommended an ultrasound to see if there were any changes.  The ultrasound showed that I have a tumor in a lymph node, but they were very confident that the RAI had killed it.  It hasn't changed in size in the last two years.  Also my thyroglobulin levels have been non-existent the last two years.  I am to return in a year for another follow-up.

RAI anniversary

It's was a year ago that I had the radioactive iodine treatment.  I lost most of my taste within 24 hours of the treatment.  My taste is still not back to where it was before the treatment.  Most food tastes bland to me.  I can still taste sweet, that one never left thank goodness!  Some days I taste sour really strongly, other days food tastes really salty to me.  I am hoping that it comes back soon!
